South Korean K-pop boy band Bangtan Sonyeondan, aka BTS, reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart last week with its latest album “Love Yourself: Tear.” BTS became the first K-pop group to do so in history.
“Love Yourself: Tear,” the group’s third album, was released on May 18. BTS made the top 10 last year with “Love Yourself: Her” at No. 7.
BTS also performed “Fake Love” at the Billboard Music Awards on May 20 and took home the award for top social artist. This was the group’s second appearance at the Billboard Music Awards.
The seven-member group debuted in South Korea on June 12, 2013, with their song, “No More Dream.”
