Hyundai Motor Group unveiled its newest compact SUV named Kona on Tuesday in Seoul.
Kona, named after the district on the Big Island, is stylish and made for customers “who pursue challenging, action-filled lifestyles.” Sales will start in South Korea this summer, followed by North America and Europe. An electric version will be released next year.
Hyundai continues to name its cars after travel destinations such as Santa Fe, N.M.; Veracruz, Mexico; and Tucson. The automaker was the main sponsor of the PGA Tournament of Champions at Kapalua, Maui, from 2011 to 2016.
